10th July

Congratulations to Don Ramsay (Skip) and Nathan Horton (Lead) in winning the final of the Zone 14 Presidents Reserve Pairs, Southern Section, on grass at North Haven today (Sunday, 10th July). Nathan and Don started the day with a strong win in their semi finals match up against T Lee & J Armstrong (Kempsey Heights) 26 to 14. They then steamrolled Russell Carkeek and Paul Webster (Port City)  32 - 5 in the afternoon's final. Russell and Paul had narrowly defeated Chris Connor and Kevin Kennedy (Kempsey RSL) in the morning session 19 - 18. Nathan and Don played brilliantly all day and their match up against the Northern section winners, John Kay and Dale Scrivener (Scotts Head), in the Zone final at Lake Cathie on Saturday, 13th August should be an epic clash. A big thanks to the North Haven Bowls Club for a well prepared green and support throughout the 2 day event - well done, North Haven.

Congratulations to our Senior Inter Zone side, while no doubt disappointed, can feel proud of their achievement in reaching the State final - a first for our Zone.

A great effort especially when considering they had accounted for the defending champion Zone 2 in the first round.

It was always going to be a difficult task against their opponents (congratulations Zone 12) however earlier results also against very good opponents had shown our boys were fighters!!

While the final score showed a difference of 26 shots the game was close for a while however the turning point was one bad end, where 11 shots were lost over the 3 rinks, giving Zone 12 a lead that proved too difficult to recover from.

Our side didn't give in and at one stage had reduced the difference back to 10 shots but the strong Zone 12 side slowly pulled away to win 67 - 41.

 Zone Bowler of the Year

More results in (thanks Park Beach and Westport).  Cameron Wills (Park Beach) has moved to 3rd place with runner up in the singles and pairs - not bad for his first year at the club.  2015 Bowler of the Year Peter Stockham has started his defence with a Singles title at Westport.  Keep the results coming in.
